Unfortunately, some contractors merely size a new system based on the old system's capacity rather than completing a professional design. Very often, we see that the original system was not sized properly to begin with. Guesswork can lead to improper sizing of a system which can reduce the comfort of your home.

The Load Calculation is where it all begins
Manual J Load Calculation is the official standard for residential load calculation and is required by many building codes around the country.
We carefully measure your home and evaluate its levels of insulation. Window sizes and quantity will be noted, levels of infiltration will be estimated and internal loads, including; lighting and kitchen appliances will be taken into consideration. A computerized analysis will be completed that indicates just how much heating and/or cooling capacity your new system should provide.
After the installation of your new system is completed ,you will receive a copy of the computerized load calculation for your records.
What is a "load Calculation"
The definition of a Manual J-Load Calculation: A calculation performed to determine the heating and cooling requirements necessary for your home.
A document assembled for the purpose of determining the correct size of heating and/or air conditioning equipment and/or the correct amount of distribution piping or ductwork to condition a structure. The "design" is calculated using Right-J8 and Right-D which is recognized by ACCA (The Air Conditioning Contractors of America) as their official software versions of the Manual J and Manual D calculation and sizing methods. The "design" would list each room of the structure showing the amount of BTU's and related output means to properly condition a room and collectively the structure. The necessary information such as window and door sizes, room sizes, ceiling heights, outside wall dimensions, insulation effectiveness and quantities, climate, direction that walls face, interior design temperature, type of heat and type of fuel are used to this calculation.
The "design" is primarily used as a sizing tool for any new additional, supplemental or replacement heating or air conditioning project. A "design" is also required in many municipalities of the country to acquire a permit before proceeding with a new project.
